I created Bookwiz Academy to provide bookkeepers, accountants & advisors with the strategies, skills, systems, & support you need to develop & accelerate a successful business.
With over 22 years experience as a multi award winning bookkeeper, business owner, mentor, course creator & training facilitator, I'm sharing everything I know to help you learn, grow & thrive.
More importantly, I want to help you establish the type of business that's right for YOU. That means understanding what 'success' looks like for you, and putting the strategies and systems in place to support that vision.
I call this developing a business with a 'Freedom Mindset' (as opposed to a 'Growth-at-all-costs Mindset'), where your business supports your life, rather than rules it!

WHY I WANT TO HELP YOU THRIVE
I launched Bookwiz as a bookkeeping practice in 2000.
To be honest, back then creating a successful business wasn't so much a dream, but a survival tool (more on that later).
And it was tough. Holy moly it was tough.
Though, I was determined. And over the course of a few years, I expanded my little solo operation into a multi-award-winning national franchise. And I started to establish a reputation as an industry leader, course creator, thought leader, and mentor.
I have evolved, hustled, pivoted, learnt and grown a lot over the years, and so has my business.
A nationally franchised bookkeeping and financial advisory business. An industry training program creator & facilitator. A Financial Literacy Workshop developer for Local Government. A Franchise Council of Australia (WA) committee member. An advocate for the importance of business & financial literacy. A mentor. I've worn a lot of hats (and I'm sure you do too!).
Bookwiz Academy is the culmination of 22 years of experience, and the realisation of my true dream - to help others achieve the independence and freedom that I have through running a successful financial services business.
I'm still on the tools - actively running my bookkeeping business and team, and I am 100% in touch with what's happening in the industry, and the challenges and opportunities we face as business owners.
There's plenty of room for all of us and I genuinely want to help others succeed in creating successful businesses, and a stronger industry as a whole.

A big dream is an inspiring and beautiful thing. Though going after it can be confusing, overwhelming, isolating and uncomfortable.
I know, first-hand, that the dream of building your own bookkeeping, accounting or advisory business can push you well and truly out of your comfort zone - repeatedly. And you can be left feeling completely out of control.
I also know that, for me, the turning point came when I started to lean into the discomfort, and focus on harnessing the knowledge, skills, and support I needed to regain control and pursue my dream confidence (and make room for the next big dream!).

ON A PERSONAL NOTE - MY "WHY"
It hasn't all been smooth sailing. I left home at 16 to break the cycle of family domestic violence I had been exposed to as a child.
Over the following 7 years, I started a new life. I moved countries, married, started a family business, bought a house, and had two beautiful children. However, I again found myself in an environment where my ideas on what 'family life' should like like weren't shared, nor my desires to study, pursue a career, or establish a business of my own. After some difficult years navigating these differences, I started out again - with two beautiful children in tow.
I put everything I had into building a new life for myself and my children. And it paid off. My little family unit strengthened, my business started to grow, and everything started to come together.
I met an amazing human, we had another two children, and we've been happily married for over 15 years (that's us above). My business went from strength to strength, and with a great team beside me, we expanded nationally, smashed milestones, and won multiple awards. For the first time in my life, I felt free. It look a lot of learning and growing to get there. But, boy was it worth it!
These early experiences continue to fuel my 'WHY' - to help others build successful bookkeeping and accounting businesses that help them achieve financial independence and freedom.
